Offered: Autographed book, GODHOOD (sorta)

Offer 1: I have just received, and hold in my hot little hands, my author copies of the fresh-off-the-presses first edition of The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, first book of the Inheritance Trilogy, which is officially published on February 25th. Donate/buy it now and you can read it before it appears in (most) stores! You can read sample chapters here. One of these copies can be yours, signed and personalized if you like. The book retails for $13.99, so I'll start the bidding there.

Minimum Bid: $14 donation

Buy it now: $50 donation

Offer 2: I'm working on Book 3 of the Inheritance Trilogy, which at present is unnamed. The story involves gods and godlings (demigod children of the gods), and I am offering a Tuckerization of one of the minor godling-characters who will appear in this book. This god will receive your name, though possibly in some altered form since this is a secondary world and it would be a bit odd to have a god named "Bob"... though actually that might be fun, now that I think about it. Anyway, the name will be some recognizable derivation of your name, pseudonym, or nickname -- your choice.

Also, the higher you bid, the greater the chance that your name will be attached to the Goddess of Mirrors or something cool like that, and not the God of Cheapassedness, etc.

Minimum Bid: $25 donation

Buy it now: $100 donation

Delivery for Offer 1 will occur upon confirmation of your donation. Delivery for Offer 2 will occur, uh, when Book 3 is published. =)

Auction rules here. Note that Buy It Now only applies if no other bids are made. Questions? Contact a mod (see sidebar).

Swooping in, like it's the last 5 seconds of eBay! $100 for offer two!

Also, I enjoyed your first chapter and said so on Amazon a couple of weeks ago.

Holy crap! Well OK then. =) Looks like you get to be a godling! (For an idea of what godlings are like, check out chapter 3, also on my website -- Sieh is one.)

I'm not sure how to finish out this auction, so I'll go read up on the rules there and get back to you. In the meantime, please decide what name you want your god/goddess (and I have a few alternate-gendered gods, so that's a possibility too) to be. =)

I hate to point this out, since I am interested in the result, but technically the buy it now only applies when there are no bids at all. See the community info.

Oh -- OK, sorry, I misunderstood. But can you clarify for me -- what does this mean? That the auction continues, even past the "buy it now" price if people want, until March 1? I think that's what you're saying, but I just want to be sure. There's no ceiling on it?

Ohhhhh. Cool. =) Well, sorry folks -- didn't mean to screw things up. Please proceed with bidding, since I'm sure the VAP can use more!

I was kind of confused myself, sorry! (Looks like I was posting in the wrong thread too -- bids are supposed to stay in the same one.)

Well, good for the VAP, anyway! Though my godhood may be snatched from me. Go ahead, someone -- take it. I DARE YOU.

Okay, let's start this thread anew:

$110 for deity-ship.

Whoops, I think I am too late. My brain was completely eaten by a project at work and I only just remembered the deadline a few minutes ago, as I was taking my laundry upstairs. Dammit.

Since it's for charity and since I wasn't sitting at my computer waiting to see if I had the last bid (can't remember if I was still trying to put down the Incredible Unputdownable Toddler or I'd given up and gone to sleep in the chair in the nursery by that point), I'm willing to call harmless the two-minute difference.

Oh, crap, I totally meant to advertise this at the last minute in order to raise the bidding. -_- Completely forgot. Sorry!

That's very generous. Are you sure? I don't want to rip your godhood away!

Yeah, I'm sure--the two minutes would literally have made no difference to me.

(If our host might be able to find a place for my name elsewhere for my second-place donation, that would be great; and if not, that's completely fine too!)

Well, thank you. I'll follow one of the how-to-pay links tomorrow (I desperately need to drive home and get a little sleep right now). And I'll report back when the donation's made.

Done! I used the How to Pay link off this page and went through the Network for Good. Not sure what to do now; take this to email? They sent me a receipt, so I can forward it if that's helpful.

Now that I'm practically divine, I'm thinking I might want to go with my surname (Egan) unless that's gonna mess with the aesthetics of naming.

Bidding has gone outside my budget for now, but I poke my head in to say I LOVED Kingdoms in ARC! I'm going to have a long wait for book 2...
